    <ns1:description language="sr">Performance of an innovative steel dissipator of seismic energy appliedin the passive vibration control system of buildings has been analysed inthe dissertation. When determining the performance, the geometriccharacteristics of the energy dissipator and the physical and mechanicalcharacteristics of the steel material have been varied. The analyses wereperformed on the sophisticated numerical computational modelsdeveloped using the Finite Element Method. The numerical model wasvalidated against the available experimental test results of the energydissipator components. It has been proven that the innovative steeldissipator of seismic energy has significant nonlinear hystereticperformance, whereby it is possible to achieve significant seismic energydissipation. Based on the analyses, conclusions were drawn regarding theinfluence of the geometric and material parameters on the performanceof energy dissipator and recommendations for its application inengineering practice were given. In order to obtain the response of energydissipator to monotonically increasing load an analytical model wasdeveloped. This model is also used to define the parameters for describingthe idealized response to monotonically increasing as well as to cyclicloading, which is the starting point in the analysis of seismically isolatedbuildings using the proposed energy dissipator. Using the example of anisolated structure, with the direct dynamic analysis in time domain, theefficiency of energy dissipator was confirmed in terms of reducingseismic forces and relative interstorey drift ratio during real and artificialearthquakes accelerogram in relation to the case of rigid foundation of thestructure.</ns1:description>
